La Colmena
History
Now in our third year with La Colmena, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to quality and transparency. During a visit to Peru, Mikołaj and Federico met Jorge, part of the ambitious Gocta Group founded by his sister Sonia. His precise approach includes double fermentation and slow drying on raised beds, resulting in refined and consistent cup profiles. This family-driven project continues to evolve, with plans to explore varieties such as Geisha. Expect smooth notes of milk chocolate and apricot.
Grown in a forest-rich landscape with access to clean water, the farm integrates beekeeping to support biodiversity and cup quality. Careful water use and raised-bed drying enhance sustainability and consistency, supported by cooperative-led practices in soil health and resource management.
Premium payments reward quality, while transparent pricing ensures fairness across the cooperative. With a strong focus on engaging younger generations, ongoing investment in training and community development supports a resilient future for coffee producers.
